Selfishness

There is a shrinking number of selfish people in the world today. Usually selfish people are inveterate in looking out for only themselves and have no tangible way of letting others know that they care about them. They don't ruminate before they make their decisions because their decisions are always based around the "me" factor. Their lives, from the perspective of others, are clandestine because they have no platitude with other people. Anyways, it is a good thing that less people are like that nowadays. Now people frolick with eachother in the meadow and save eachother from conflagrations. They do not have acrid breath for fear of what their breath will do to others. They are not nocturnal nor do they stay up late because they want to get their education so that they can grow up and help the world and not worry about how much money they make. People who are not selfish are constantly elated. Being selfless makes your life more indelible, so it's no wonder the number of selfish people in the world is declining.

The Bad Parent

Some exuberant parents seem like the best parents to parent a child, but sometimes they are not. Some let their children imbibe all of the world's goods. Others spoil theirs to the point where they cannot satisfy their implacable child. The child screams stentoriously and will not stop until it gets what it wants. They have no will to militate or follow through on any ultimatums they put on their children. They do not stipulate rules for their children to follow. As the children grow older, they develop an antipathy towards their parents because they don't like being interrupted when talking with their friends. The parents thought they were being the "cool," innocuous parent. What they really have done is given their assets away to a child that will show little compassion for them.

The speech and debate champion

It was finally time for the national tournament. The competitors knew their material. However, during each debate, the competitors become flustered, and misconstrue pieces of evidence on purpose in a last ditch effort to get the judge to vote for their side. This is a disreputable tactic in Public Forum debate, but unless your opponent calls you on it, it works. This tactic is also endemic to presenting information as a whole, whether it be lobbyists to politicians, politicians to the people, lawyers to the judge, and debaters to a judge. When a debater misconstrues a piece of evidence, it is seen by the other side as obnoxious and they try to ask questions during crossfire that questions the integrity of the other debater. The only way to really reveal the opponent's lie is to ask a series of stark questions. These are potent because they fluster the opponent into saying something their side shouldn't advocate. This becomes a situation that not at all placid, and the debaters begin to sweat. In a conclusive speech, a debater can simply allude to the misconstruing of the evidence secure an exemplary victory. This is only one of the many struggles in the life of a debater.

The Evil Ant King No. 5

The aardvarks proved successful, suppressing and forcing the ants to accede to the pinnacle of Mount Everest. The situation appeared ominous for the ants, for they feared losing the war at this point. Underground, the venal ant king set a curse upon the aardvarks. They became very ill at the most inopportune time; the humans had almost clenched victory. The deft ants went to work, finishing the ant king's work. Very little of the aardvarks survived. The weakened ant army comprised of just a few million ants, so they had to go back to the musty underground tunnels to reproduce. On the surface, the humans got solace from the ceasefire. The war was over... for now.

Vote for Phil Davidson: A found poem by Daniel Mefford

Vote for Phil Davidson                                                                                  Dan Mefford

Good evening
My name is Phil Davidson
And I am seeking my party’s nomination
For the position of Stark County Treasurer

In terms of education
I have a bachelors degree in sociology,
A bachelor’s degree in history,
A masters degree in public administration,
And a masters degree in communication.

Let’s use this knowledge not as a tool,
But as a weapon.

Albert Einstein issued one of my most favorite quotes
And it is as follows:
In the middle of opportunity…
excuse me, “in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”
Let me repeat that so I have some clarity tonight!

This is the opportunity we’ve been waiting for.
The Stark County treasurer’s office IS A MESS.
Now is the time to seize this opportunity
With an aggressive campaign
And an even more aggressive campaigner.

I have been a Republican in times good
And I have been a Republican in times bad.
I will hit the ground running,
Come out swinging,
And end up winning!

The Evil Ant King (part 4)

The humans' uncanny method of defeating the ants was of no use. The omniscient ant king obviously saw this coming. He however skulked over to his microphone and called out to his followers. He then used his malevolent powers to expunge the ants of their delusions. Because the ants thought of the king with such high esteem, once back to normal, they began to form their own genius plans to give the king power to rule the world in a shorter amount of time. They mount an offensive to achieve this attainment. The ants plan to meet the humans with millions of foot soldiers on a hill in Virginia. They would shout and converge and obliterate the humans. They thought they could hide the plan so well, the humans would never ascertain the kind of hurt they will encounter. The ants were so caught up in their plan, they didn't realize that the humans had become closely affiliated with the aardvark population, who preferred the dominance of humans and control over the ant population. This would be the humans' new weapon in the epic war against the ants.
